How to Relate with Your Parents and Authority Figures

Hey everyone! Today we’re going to talk about how we can better relate with our parents or authority figures! I know that sometimes it may be hard to find a way to connect with our parents, but it is possible! Why you may ask? Deuteronomy 6:6-7 does a perfect job of explaining. The verse says, "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” This verse tells us that our parents have been tasked with teaching God’s commandments to us, which is one of the many reasons why we should connect with them. And believe it or not, learning how to relate with our parents is not as hard as we think. Simply put, we must obey them. This is another statement that may make you question why we must do it. Well, Ephesians 6:1-3 explains exactly why. The verse says, “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. ‘Honor your father and mother.’ This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, ‘Things will go well for you.” The verse tells us to obey and honor our parents, and it will make things easier for you, thus making it easier to relate with our parents. To conclude, as much as some of us hate to hear it, we must obey our parents to relate with them better. If you enjoyed this, feel free to read more posts at!
