Know the Word

Good day, it’s me again! If you’ve read my previous post, Read. Your. Bible!, you're familiar with why we have to read the Bible. If you recall, I even gave you more about the Word to look forward to in my future blog posts, and one topic pertaining to the Word of God will be addressed today: Knowing the Word.

When we know the Word, we function on a new level. We gain wisdom and discernment. We gain guidance and truth. We become refueled, because besides His guidance, He also gives us promises. While reading the Word, you will find that there are many things that we should know, and I shall name a few!:

Through the Word, we know of His love for us (1 John 4:16 - NIV):

16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

We know that we are a chosen generation (1 Peter 2:9 - NIV):

9"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

We know that He strengthens and boost us up (Isaiah 41:10 - NIV):

10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

We know that He protects us and gives us refuge (Psalm 91:4 - NIV):

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

We know that He will never leave or forget us (Deuteronomy 31:8 - CEV):

8 The Lord will lead you into the land. He will always be with you and help you, so don’t ever be afraid of your enemies.

And we know that these promises never waver (Hebrews 10:23):

23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Once we wholeheartedly believe and accept the Word, we receive blessings, which adds onto the level that we begin to function on. This is even discussed in James 1:25 (NIV):

25 ”But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”

There are many more matters to be discovered within the Word, but you have to know for yourself! You have the authority to believe whatever you want to believe, but knowing the Word for yourself is KEY! Knowing the context of things and how it applies to you is KEY! Once you read the Word and gain discipline and strength from remaining in it, you will find these keys for yourself, and trust me when I say it’s not easy. You have to be determined and with an open heart, and ready to learn when it comes to reading the Word, so just pray on having this discipline and for the ability to be proactive when reading the Word!

God Bless, and thanks for taking the time to read!
