Letting Go of the World

Letting go...seems like a loaded task, right? Well in truth, it is! As humans, we are faced with the task of letting go of things that may not be very easy to let go of. Some of these things could be friendships, objects, ideologies, and more! As Christians, the things we are told to let go of are mixed into one universal topic: The World.

The Bible says, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”(Matthew 6:19-21) “How am I expected to let go of the whole world, if I can’t even let go of things in it?” This may be the question ringing in your head right now.

Well, the answer is simple and is mentioned in the verse above. If we set our minds on things of this world, then we will be forever tethered to it. If we set our minds on Heavenly things, we will see that Heavenly things will be our hope and our drive, causing us to focus on heavenly things! With this, I leave you with the task of thinking bigger than big. I’ll give you the first step of this assignment.

Step 1. Let Go
