The Gifts of the Spirit

One way we can spread the gospel is through our Spiritual Gifts, granted to us by The Father himself. Whether it is to worship, to praise, or to prophesy, we were all granted gifts; they weren’t so we could just use them for our own good, but for the good of the gospel as well. We have to embrace our gifts and share them with the world. Sometimes more than one gift can be used. Sometimes one gift is all that’s needed to change someone’s life. Sometimes someone’s gift is something to ease their journey towards their divine purpose. Sometimes our own gift is to be used with another’s gift because the members of the body of Christ are to work together. Other times, gifts are lost in a world full of doubt and resentment. If we encourage the use of wonderful people’s talents and abilities, we use these gifts to spread the gospel to the world while setting a good example as Christians. Spiritual gifts are so important because they can lead us to identify what God’s purpose is for our lives. Our spiritual gifts can be one or all of the talents we have. The Bible mentions several gifts of the spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:7-10 says “To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.” All these gifts are given to us by the Holy Spirit. By paying attention and asking God for help to identify what our unique gifts are, is a way for Him to guide us to our destinies. Small things like having visions or dreams that come true, may indicate that you will walk along the path of other prophets. As we know, we are to spread the Word of God and influence the world because we “ are the salt of the earth.”( Matthew‬ ‭5:13‬). Whether we are given a gift of ministry, manifestation, or motivation, we are to utilize them and not keep them to ourselves, because it’s honestly just selfish. Imagine having the grace to lead, the grace to heal, the grace to move others through worship, yet you’re keeping it to yourself?! After all that has been said, here is a word of advice to you all. All spiritual gifts are blessings and are not to be taken for granted, but the most important gift that we could have is the gift of love. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:2 that “If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” God is love and without love, we do not and cannot know God; if we do not know God, then how can we have Him? If we have love and God, all other gifts will fall into place because God will guide us and order our steps.
