What Does God Want From You?

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

Knowing your purpose, it’s not easy, that’s for sure. Becoming aware of what your God-given purpose is, can be so very hard and quite stressful; I should know. But we have to remember; it’s not impossible because with our God — all things are possible. (Matt. 19:26) As with all things that we do in our Christian journey, we must turn to God first and foremost for guidance and direction. (Prov. 3:5-6) And honestly, I think that makes a lot of sense. Like, just flow with me for a second (see what I did there??) — God made us, right? And He made us with a purpose, yes? SO… why wouldn’t He be the best person (yes, I said person) to lead us to the answer we so desperately long for? Many people take their own lives because they see no purpose to life, and that makes me think that if we would lean on the One Who Knows All, and ask Him to show us the way; we’d be able to “see the light,” so to speak, and live lives that are filled with joy and directed by purpose.

I’ve touched on the “how” part of this blog and I had originally been content to just stop there, but I feel compelled to touch on what God desires from me and from you; from all of us. In the Bible, specifically in the fourth chapter of Matthew, Jesus calls us to be fishers of men. Now for some of you who may not have heard this before, or just don’t understand what we’ve been commanded to do here; Jesus is saying that we should bring people into His kingdom, to share the gospel message with the lost. As Christians we are called to do three main things: 1) Love our neighbor as we love ourselves, 2) Love the Lord with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind and 3) Be evangelists. If we can’t figure out the purposes specifically made for us; the three aforementioned are what we should live by at the least. We should allow those principles to guide us and help us to live in a way that is pleasing to God, because at the end of the day pleasing God should be our top priority and the only way to do that is to live in a way that is pleasing to Him.
